Realistic Space Combat Simulator "Terminus"

Vicarious Visions and Vatical Entertainment has released Terminus. Terminus is a sci-fi space combat simulator and strategy game set in the Solar System of 22nd century where player fights against enemy force, pirates, and others while carrying through various missions in the space. The game consists of 5 modes including Campaign to play various missions along the rich storyline, Free Mode to play individual missions, The Training Academy to learn flight technique in real time lessons, The Gauntlet to play dog fights in arcade style, and Melee Modes to play multiplay games such as Deathmatch and even Zero-G Hockey. It also features the flexible space flight control thanks to advanced AI, fully configurable space ships with various equipment and optimizations, vast Solar System map based on NASA data, unique maneuver play with physically accurate flight behavior, and the wide variety of realism setting from simulation-level to arcade-level. -- Terminus 1.2 (Vicarious Visions): Sci-fi space combat simulator and strategy game set in the Solar System. Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation Released for Japanese Market

JapanCentral.com* has released Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation with Japanese Manual*. Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation (developer: Core Design, PC version publisher: Eidos Interactive, porting: Westlake Interactive, USA publisher: Aspyr Media) is the 4th installment of popular 3D exploration action game series featuring pre-story with Lara Croft and exploration in Egyptian ruins. The Japanese manual contains a translated version of original English manual as well as a transcript of the tutorial level. Requires PowerPC G3/233 MHz or better (iMac Rev. B or later supported), Mac OS 8.1 or later, RAM 32 MB or larger, CD-ROM 4x or faster, ATI Rage Pro, 3Dfx card, or better. It is reported that it requires OpenGL, and 3Dfx users need Voodoo OpenGL driver (no information about Voodoo1 compatibility has been given yet). Available directly* for $34.

5 Independent Mac Game Developers Form Bunch Media

Five independent Mac game developers form new firm named Bunch Media. Bunch Media is a distribution company directed by Jason Wang, assistant product manager of Green Dragon Creations and formerly in Ambrosia Software, as President. It is founded by A Sharp, Delta Tao Software, Freeverse Software, Green Dragon Creations, and Monkey Byte Development, and supports these small developers who have published a number of unique and outstanding Mac game titles. The new firm is expected to widely promote many Mac game titles to the user community and the market where most excellent Mac-only/Mac-first games tend to be ignored due to low coverage on the media and little opportunity in the market. Virus Alert: Vince's Salon 1.2.5

A reader reported that Vince's Salon 1.2.5 posted before June 3 (May 11 version) was infected by a HyperCard virus called Antibody. Since Vince's Salon is a stand alone application, it is rare to infect other stacks or files. Currently, Kieth Garryson, the author, seems to post fixed version (June 3 version, 1.8 MB) without changing version number, but no official comment about this issue has been given yet.

Antibody is a scripting virus by HyperTalk script that infects other opened stacks and stand alone applications made with HyperCard. It may be intended to protect stacks from Merry X'mas, another popular HyperCard virus, but it is strongly recommended to fix or delete infected files because it multiplies itself without user's intention and occasionally causes errors in some conditions. The infected stacks can be detected and fixed with general anti-viral programs such as NAV or freeware merryxmas Vaccine 4.3 (276 KB). It is recommended to scan all stacks in your disk if you have downloaded Vince's Salon 1.2.5 (May 11 version).
