Game Updates: -- Foreign Fruit Invaders 1.0.1 (Olle Welinder): Invader game with humorous and peaceful theme. Version 1.0.1 is a minor fix version. File size is 1.5 MB. Freeware.

-- Nanosaur 1.0.8b3 (Pangea Software): 3D dinosaur shooting action game. Version 1.0.8b3 fixes bugs including a crush. Updater size for freeware version is 174 KB, iMac version is 173 KB, 1.8.0 manual is 487 KB (more info).
Followup: As of October 9, Nanosaur has been updated to version 1.0.8b6 .

Redjack: Revenge of the Brethren Released, Demo Posted: THQ has released Redjack: Revenge of the Brethren. Redjack is, developed by Cyberflix, a semi-3D VR-style adventure game where player explores Redjack Island for the treasure. It features dynamically animated VR scenes with actions. Requires Power PC/120 MHz or faster. Available as hybrid CD-ROM at retail stores in USA.
Also, Cyberflix posted the demo of fighting scene in Port Royal. File size is 5.7 MB (more info).
Teen's Story Role Playing Game "Omohide-Prelude": Zesty Ltd.* has released Omohide-Prelude*. Omohide-Prelude is an anime-style role playing game stack with the theme of teen's school life and classroom romance. Player takes a role of a high school boy and makes girl friends through conversations with girls in his classroom. It features the proprietary character generator that generates attractive girl characters with various faces, costumes, and characteristics. File size is 2.6 MB* (more info*) Requires PowerPC (603e/180 MHz or better recommended), Japanese Mac OS, free memory 7.9 MB or larger, 640 x 480/256 colors or better (832 x 624 or better recommended), HyperCard/HyperCard Player 2.3 or later. Pac the Man 3.0 Released: Sebastian Wegner has released Pac the Man 3.0. Pac the Man is a Pacman-clone 2D arcade game with as many as 25 levels. File size is 3.9 MB, small version without music is 483 KB. Recommends 68030 or better, requires free memory 1.8 MB or larger. Freeware.
Sangokushi VI, Historical Simulation Game Based on "Romance of Three Kingdoms": Koei* has released Sangokushi VI. Sangokushi VI is a historical strategy simulation game based on Chinese classic "Romance of Three Kingdoms" where player, as one of heroes is the Era of Three Kingdoms, manages the Kingdom and the retainers, and fights against other Kingdoms to unify China. Requires PowerPC, Japanese System 7.1 or later, free memory 28 MB or larger, free HD 160 MB or larger, 800 x 600/256 colors or better, Apple CD-ROM 2x or faster, QuickTime 1.6.1 or later. Japanese software.
Golden Logres Internet Edition English Version Released as Shareware, Also Full Retail Version Coming Soon: LittleWing, well-known for popular pinball simulations CrystalCaliburn and Loony Labyrinth, has released Golden Logres Internet Edition English Version. Golden Logres is their newest pinball simulation game to be called a sequel to CrystalCaliburn, featuring more challenging game play and 3 tables that represent a large-scaled story based on the legend of King Arthur. Locked full version file size is 21.9 MB (more info). 68LC040/33 MHz or better (PowerPC recommended), System 7.5 or later, free memory 10 MB or larger (16 MB or larger recommended), free HD 50 MB or larger (80 MB or larger recommended), 640 x 480/256 colors or better (800 x 600/32,000 colors or better recommended). Game Updates: -- Diablo 1.07 (Blizzard Entertainment): Networkable fantasy role playing strategy game. Version 1.07 includes Battle.net-related improvements from PC version 1.05, as well as fixes many bugs. Updater size is 2.1 MB (more info).

-- Sapiens 2.3 (Guillion Bros. Shareware): Adventure arcade game of Neandertalensis era. Version 2.3 supports new hardware configurations. File size is 938 KB. Shareware $12.

-- Awale 2.4 (Guillion Bros. Shareware): African ancient board game supporting head-to-head play through Internet. Version 2.4 features several improvements and fixes including new rule options. File size is 1.1 MB. Shareware $12.

-- Macintosh Football Manager 2.06 (Malcolm McQuoid): Soccer management simulation game. Version 2.06 fixes bugs and improves the game. Demo size is 841 KB (more info). Available directly for £20.

-- PowerCart Grand Prix 2.0* (ORION PROJECT*): 2D cart racing simulation game featuring realistic driving feeling. Version 2.0 adjusted the game speed for playability. File size is 766 KB*. Shareware ¥1,000. Japanese software.

Carmageddon II: Carpocalpyse Now to be Released in November, Preorder Started: SCI officially announced the upcoming Carmageddon II: Carpocalpyse Now. Carmageddon II is a sequel to Carmageddon, a cruel racing arcade game. It have many advanced features over the previous installment such as 30 tracks of 10 missions, destructible structures, intelligent polygonal pedestrians of 150 types, 40 new cars and 90 different power up weapons, replay option with 8 different camera views, improved graphic effects. Expected in November. Preorder is available now for £34.99.
Game Updates: -- Kaisha Keiei Game 6.0* (Shukan Yasurin Soft*): Simple company management simulation stack where player takes a role of a manager of small software house. Version 6.0 is a urgent bug fixed version of recent version 5.0. File size is 476 KB*. MacLHA* is required to extract the archive. Freeware. Japanese software.

-- David's Backgammon 2.5 (David Byrum): Backgammon game with many features. No information about the update has been given. File size is 255 KB. Shareware $20.
Followup: As of October 7, David's Backgammon has been updated to 2.5.2.
Correction: Elementurn 2 is Shareware for ¥500: I have reported in September 21 news that Elementurn 2* is freeware. But actually, the software is a shareware for ¥500 although the previous version of Elementurn is still freeware. (Thanks: Atsushi Kojima*, the author)

Game Updates: -- Royal Flush 1.1 (Gerard Putter): Classic pinball arcade game. Version 1.1 features many fixes and improvements such as the high score contest support. File size is 1.4 MB. Freeware.

-- Enigmatic Movement 1.5 (SwordLord): Rubik's Cube-style puzzle game where player matches the colored tiles by sliding row or column of grids. Version 1.5 adds Challenge mode and improves the user interface. File size is 724 KB (more info). Shareware $15.

-- Starbound II 0.98 (Catfish Software): Networkable strategic space conquest game with many features and game phases. Version 0.98 is the bug-fixed version although the previous version 0.97 was final candidate. File size is 24.9 MB (more info). Shareware $20.

Bokeshi Game Released: Kazuhiro Someya* has released Bokeshi Game*. Bokeshi Game is a simple but difficult strategy game based on classic paper-and-pencil game. The players erase some of triangularly arranged bars alternately and one who erases the last bar looses the game. File size is 513 KB*. Shareware ¥1,200.
Followup: As of October 6, Bokeshi Game has been updated to version 1.1.
Elementurn 2, a New Type Puzzle Game Stack: Atsushi Kojima* has released Elementurn 2*. It is a HyperCard stack puzzle game where player rearranges icons to match them in a line by flipping some of them. Elementurn 2 adds various game mode including 2-player game. File size is 29 KB* (more info*). Requires HyperCard. Shareware ¥500. Japanese software.
Monkey Farm Released Bob the Fish: Monkey Farm Software has released Bob the Fish. Bob the Fish is a 2D scrolling arcade game where player controls a humorous fish and challenges 50 unique levels of entirely different game styles and purposes. File size is 5.9 MB. Shareware $10.

-- Tantan Tarot 1.3* (Tobishima Factory*): A Tarot card stack with detailed description of each card that supports various spreads. Version 1.3 fixes bugs and adds online registration support. File size is 77 KB*. Shareware* ¥1,000. Japanese software.

-- Splash! 2.0 (Gemjm): Pong-type arcade game where player must save bouncing turtles by a platform floating on the sea. Version 2.0 improves the program and the game play becomes more speedy and more tricky. File size is 487 KB (more info). Shareware $10.

MASTERS OF ELEMENTS is, developed by Amsterdam-based IJsfontein, a scientific fantasy adventure game where player explores rooms of 6 elements and finish various games and puzzles in the rooms. Realistic Lure Fishing Simulation "THE SEA BASS": PONYCANYON* has released THE SEA BASS*. THE SEA BASS is a realistic sea bass fishing simulation where player challenges a tournament using variety of real-world's lures of 60 models at variety of fishing spots in Tokyo Bay. Requires PowerPC, Japanese System 7.1 or later, RAM 16 MB or larger (32 MB or larger recommended), 640 x 480/32,000 colors or better, CD-ROM 4x or faster. Available as hybrid CD-ROM at retail stores in Japan or directly for ¥5,800. Japanese software.
Klingon Honor Guard Porting Started by Westlake: Westlake Interactive announced that they started the development of STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION Klingon Honor Guard. Klingon Honor Guard (PC developer: MicroProse, Publisher: MacSoft) is a 3D first person perspective shooting game set in the STAR TREK world where player, as a Klingon guard, fights to save the Empire and Gowron. Using Unreal engine, it features unique and detailed 3D world, more than 20 levels including space stations/starships/alien cities, and ten powerful weapons dedicated for the games (game info). No release date has been given but Westlake projected to release around December.

13th Installment of Train Simulator Series "JR Hokkaido 1" Released: PONYCANYON* has released Train Simulator: JR Hokkaido 1*. Train Simulator* is a series of realistic train driving simulators using QuickTime movies where player can drive a real-world's train of various companies. It is developed by Ongakukan*, a software house founded by Minoru Mukaiya who is musician and most popular train enthusiast. The latest installment "JR Hokkaido 1" features newest electric and diesel car trains. Requires Japanese Mac OS. Available at retail stores in Japan or directly* for ¥5,800.

Ongakukan is currently developing Train Simulator: Yamanote-sen (Uchimawari) featuring the most advanced commuter train with electric instruments. Expected on December 18.
AQUAZONE Power Updater GUPPY Released: OPeNBooK 9003* has released "AQUAZONE Power Updater GUPPY BREEDING SET*". GUPPY BREEDING SET is an upgrade kit and add-on breeds set for AQUAZONE, a popular tropical fish breeding simulation software. The upgrade kit allows users to crossbreed Guppies which have a variation of breeds. 2 packages, GUPPY BREEDING SET Vol. 1* and Vol. 2*, are available at retail stores in Japan. Requires Japanese System and full version of AQUAZONE.
Fantasy Weapon Encyclopedia "Deeds of Arms" (English Version Included): GAINAX, a Japanese popular anime/software maker, has released Deeds of Arms. Deeds of Arms is an encyclopedia of over 100 weapons used in medieval Europe or fantasy world. It features very detailed descriptions with narration and 3D 360-degree graphics. Also featuring is data of each weapons such as strength, value, and weight that is valuable for game creators. The CD-ROM contains English version as well as Japanese. Requires 68LC040/25 MHz or better, English or Japanese System 7.1 or later, RAM 16 MB or larger, 640 x 480/256 colors or better, CD-ROM 2x or faster. Presage Software Said Lode Runner 2 Will be out September 21: Presage Software, the developer of upcoming Lode Runner 2, announced the release date of the game title will be September 21. Lode Runner 2 is a much advanced sequel to Lode Runner, a popular classic 2D arcade game featuring more complex stages of five different 3D worlds, high quality 3D graphics, 75 levels with 6-directional scrolling, more advanced enemies with dynamic AI, and up to 8 players game. No further information about the product has been given by nether Presage Software nor MacSoft, the publisher of the product. (Source: Presage Software News)
Followup: As of September 30, Lode Runner 2 has NOT been released. Rumor says the release date is around October 16.

Flying Circus Officially Released: Bullseye Software has officially released Flying Circus. Flying Circus is a WWI flight simulator with 3D RAVE support where player takes flight on one of famous WWI fighters and complete various missions such as dogfight, bombing, balloon shooting, and maneuver. Network play also supported. Demo size is 4.4 MB. Requires PowerPC, free memory 9 MB or larger. Supports 3D accelerators such as ATI, 3Dfx and G3/iMac internal. -- Gaps 2.2a (Thomas Reed): Solitaire card game. Version 2.2a supports Kagi registration. File size is 644 KB. Shareware $6.

-- Pentominosh-J 1.1 (Nontan): Pentomino puzzle game played against computer. Version 1.1 improves operations and some display elements. File size is 579 KB* (more info*). Shareware ¥500.

VR Style Adventure "Morpheus" Demo Posted: Piranha Interactive posted the demo of upcoming Morpheus. Morpheus (developer: Soap Bubble Productions) is a VR style surrealistic mystery adventure game where player explores a strange ship frozen in Arctic Ocean for a decade and solves the mystery around his father's disappearance. It features smooth animated VR scenes thanks to the proprietary VR technology and high quality movie scenes of QuickTime 3. Demo size is 21.5 MB (more info). Requires PowerPC, System 7.5 or later, RAM 16 MB or larger, 640 x 480/256 colors or better, QuickTime 3.0 or later. Full retail version will be available in September as hybrid CD-ROM. Networkable Fighting "2K5" Demo Posted Again: DoomHammer Software has posted the demo of 2K5 again after a long absence. 2K5 is an upcoming new fighting arcade game of popular Sprite Fighter series. It features unique characters, realistic motions, and network head-to-head play. Demo file size is 17.6 MB (more info). Requires PowerPC, System 7.5 or later, RAM 18 MB or larger (32 MB or larger recommended), free memory 12 MB or larger (25 MB or larger recommended), free HD 33 MB or larger, 640 x 480/256 colors or better, QuickTime 2.0 or later recommended. STAR TREK-Type Realtime Strategy "Star Patrol 2.0": Quandir Software has released Star Patrol 2.0. Star Patrol is a sci-fi strategy game like classic STAR TREK but featuring Mac-like user interface and realtime play. MazeBall Released: Patrice Mallette has released MazeBall. MazeBall is a board-style arcade game where player rolls a ball in the maze while avoiding holes and other obstacles. 150 levels including Traditional, Puzzle, and Golf style. The game consists as many as 150 levels of 3 game styles; Traditional style of classic wood mazes, Golf style like miniature golf with sand traps, bushes, and lakes, Puzzle style where player must find out the way to the goal using warp holes and other items while taking care of the energy level. Unique Breakthrough Game "Brickles Deluxe": Space-Time Associates has released Brickles Deluxe. Brickles Deluxe is a unique breakthrough game with colorful bricks and humorous sounds. It features a variation of game modes (1/2/4 paddles game) and customizable game elements such as sizes of the ball, the paddles, and even the window which drastically affect the game difficulty. File size is 323 KB. Requires 256 colors or better. Shareware $20.

Food Chain Released: Cajun Games has released Food Chain. Food Chain is a strategy board game based on the food chain of the nature where player places animals of four unique species that are predators of each other while avoiding extinction of any species. It features the humorously animated characters and the simple but addictive game play. File size is 6.6 MB. Requires 68040 or better, System 7.1.2 or later, free memory 5 MB or larger, free HD 10 MB or larger. Shareware $9.95. Cajun Games is also developing uberhocken, an air hockey game.

Game Updates: -- X-Plane 4.21 (Laminar Research): Full-featured flight simulator with beautiful texture graphics using OpenGL. Version 4.21 features some improvements such as GPS data support for map programs. Demo/Upgrade file size is 24.9 MB (more info), updater from version 4.2 is 917 KB (more info).
Followup: As of October 2, X-Plane has been updated to version 4.31.

-- FishFighter 1.4.2* (HIROKO*): RPG-style fish battle simulation. Version 1.4.2 fixes a help screen bug. File size is 92 KB*. Freeware. Japanese software.
Kasserine Pass, An Add-On Battle Set for Close Combat: Art McNutt has released Kasserine Pass. Kasserine Pass is a full-featured add-on battle set for Close Combat, a best selling real time tactical war simulation. It provides a new campaign scenario set in armor battles in African desert as well as a new sound file and a new graphic set. It also features new elements such as the land elevation and night battles. There are 4 files to download with total size 20.4 MB (more info). Requires full version of Close Combat. Maybe freeware. It seems to be somewhat unstable depending on the system environment.

Daily Life Simulation Game "Seikatsu Simulator": Takeshi Sakai has released Seikatsu Simulator. It is a parameter simulation game of daily life where player selects age, gender, income, house lent, and other parameters and makes the living. File size is 397 KB* (more info*). Freeware. Japanese software.
Followup: As of October 6, Seikatsu Simulator has been updated to version 1.5.
Simple Whack-A-Mole Game "Mogu x 2": PoCkEt* has released "Mogu x 2*". Mogu x 2 is a simple but exiting Whack-A-Mole game featuring the compact game window and speedy game play. File size is 336 KB*. Requires free memory 4 MB. Freeware. Japanese software.
Freeware: As of October 9, Mogu x 2 has been updated to version 1.1.
2D Maze Arcade Game "Nyanko Totsugeki": Hiroshi Sakiyama* has released Nyanko Totsugeki. It is a 2D maze arcade game where player moves a cat icon to let it escape a simple maze with traps. File size is 671 KB* (more info*). Shareware* ¥500. Japanese software.
2D Maze-Type Networkable Shooting "MacHunt": Tatsuya Osabe* has released MacHunt*. MacHunt is a 2D maze shooting arcade game featuring up to 8 persons network play, stereo panning sound effect, simple chatting. Mazes are editable by text editor. File size is 1.2 MB*. Requires PowerPC (PowerPC 603/100 MHz or faster recommended), Japanese Mac OS 8.1 or later, Ethernet LAN recommended. Freeware. Japanese software.
EasyRacing Released: Shin Matsuda* has released EasyRacing*. EasyRacing is a simple 3D racing arcade game. It is so simple that there are no opponent cars and structures, but runs smoothly even on a low-end Power Macintosh. File size is 236 KB*. Requires PowerPC, System 7.1 or later, free memory 2.5 MB or larger, 640 x 480/256 colors or better. Shareware ¥1,000. Japanese software but well playable on English System.
Preview Version of iPOKER Released: Scenario Software, well-known for PowerPOKER, posted the preview version of iPOKER 1.0b2. iPOKER is an enhanced version of PowerPOKER, a full-featured networkable poker game. The new software features more enhanced graphics, Appearance Manager support, and more sophisticated user interface. The final version will also feature Internet play, video conferencing, speech recognition, and other advanced features. File size is 1.8 MB, optional movie file is 1.3 MB. Requires PowerPC, Mac OS 8.1 or later (or System 7.1 or later + Appearance Extension 1.0.2), display 800 x 600 or better (also playable on a display 640 x 480, 32,000 colors or better recommended). The final version will be shareware about $20.

Alan's Euchre Released: Alan Ewalt has released Alan's Euchre. Alan's Euchre is a computer version of American traditional card game Euchre. It features various information windows, options to set computer characteristics, and cheating options. File size for PowerPC is 306 KB, 68K is 286 KB (more info). Shareware $5.
Game Updates: -- Ocean Bound 1.1 (SpiderWeb Software): Large-scaled desert island survival simulation game. Version 1.1 fixes the startup memory bug that caused crash on certain machines. File size is 1.1 MB. Shareware $15.

-- SmallMines 2.1 (Charles Miller): Simple MineSweeper game. Version 2.1 adds timer and mine counter. File size is 25 KB. Freeware.

Game Updates: -- X-Plane 4.2 (Laminar Research): Full-featured flight simulator with beautiful texture graphics using OpenGL. Version 4.2 features many improvements including localized real-time weather and various graphics enhancements. Demo/Upgrade file size is 25.3 MB (more info), updater from previous version (maybe 4.15) is 12.4 MB (more info). Available directly for $199 (currently, the price is reduced to $149 for limited amount).

Puzzle Arcade Game Stack "Arrow !!": Takehiko Inoue has released Arrow!!*. Arrow!! (pronounced "Arrow Two") is a puzzle arcade game stack where player makes arrows disappear. It is a sequel to his previous "Arrow" and features two different game mode; time-imited "60 Seconds Mode" and MaciGame-like turn-limited "ArrowGame Mode". File size is 55 KB*. Unreal Released: MacSoft officially released Unreal. Unreal is, developed by Epic MegaGames, ported by Westlake Interactive, a 3D first person perspective shooting game with highest quality that features beautiful 3D graphics thanks to the detailed textures/polygons, dynamic lighting, and advanced texture smoothing. It also features the intelligent enemies using AI technology, high quality soundtrack and special audio effects. Additionally, the Mac version has peculiar features such as Mac-like option dialogs, more display options, and speech support.
