[USA] aGORA Demo Released
Knowble Design and Power Media posted aGORA demo. aGORA is a networkable 3D fantasy strategic action role playing game. It seems to be something imitating Myth, but exploring and fighting of the game is based on a main playable character named a "runner" and the game play is more tactical thanks to circular nature of the map called Globes, complex terrain to affect strategy, and variety of items and magic spells. Requires PowerPC (80 MHz or faster recommended), System 7.5 or later, free memory 16 MB or larger, free HD 30 MB or larger, 640 x 480/32,000 colors or better. Demo size is 26.4 MB (more info). Full version is to be released in June.
[Japan] 60's Japanese Children's Game Collection "Dagashiya Game-O"
PONYCANYON* has released "Dagashiya Game-O: Mezase! Gakidaisho Hen*" and "Dagashiya Game-O: Tonarino Miyo-chan Hen*". Dagashiya Game-O is a series of Japanese children's' game collection of 60's dedicated for users of ages between 30 and 40. The series consists two packages; "Mezase! Gakidaisho Hen" based on games for boys and "Tonarino Miyo-chan Hen" based on games for girls. Requires PowerPC (604e or better recommended), Japanese System 7.5 or later, free memory 8 MB or larger, free HD 10 MB or larger, 640 x 480/32,000 colors or better, CD-ROM 2x or faster (4x or faster recommended). [Japan] Bird Breeding Software "pinna" Updated to 1.0.1
OPeNBooK 9003* has updated pinna* to version 1.0.1. pinna is a unique bird breeding simulation softwares featuring accurate simulation of behavior and characteristic of each bird including cockatoos, sparrows, and other little birds. Version 1.0.1 fixes a bug causes unexpected shutdown. Updater size is 815 KB* (more info*). Full version is available at retail stores in Japan. Japanese software.

[USA] Warbirds Updated to 2.01
iMagic Online has updated Warbirds, a WWII dogfight simulator for head-to-head play, to version 2.01. Version 2.01 features reworked cockpit arts of all planes, added several instruments, new factors of plane mechanism and air dynamics, and other many improvements and fixes. Files for PowerPC 601 (7.6 MB), 603/G3 (7.6 MB), 604 (7.6 MB) are offered respectively (more info). Note that cockpit arts and terrain files for previous version is not compatible with the new version, so that you should also download new ones you need (more info). Also Warbirds CD-ROM 2.01 that includes related files along with Warbirds 2.01 program itself is available directly for $7.50.

[Japan] Guide Book for Train Simulator Series Published
SoftBank* has shipped "Koryaku Train Simulator 2*", an official guide book for popular Train Simulator series*. This book, written by the game author Minoru Mukaiya, contains detailed tips and technique to drive trains in each title of the series. Also included is a CD-ROM contains demo softwares and save files of finished games. Available at book shops in Japan for ¥3,500.
Also available is "Koryaku Train Simulator", the first installment of the series, for ¥1,305.
[Japan] Diablo Finally Out, But Only in Japan
SourceNext* has released Diablo for Macintosh (English version with Japanese manual) in Japan, while the USA release is delayed due to duplication delay. Diablo is a networkable fantasy role playing strategy game featuring dark Gothic style 3D graphics, randomly generated dungeon map, exiting head-to-head play via Battle.net. Requires PowerPC, System 7.5 or later (Mac OS 8 compatible. English System also OK), RAM 16 MB or larger (32 MB or larger recommended), free HD 40 MB or larger, 640 x 480/256 colors or better, CD-ROM 2x or faster. Available now at retail stores in Japan.
[Japan] Word Association Game Collection "Taniyama Hiroko-no Soreyuke! Maru-Hai Gamers"
Inner Brain* has released "Taniyama Hiroko-no Soreyuke! Maru-Hai Gamers". It is a collection of simple and unique word association games by Hiroko Taniyama, a popular singer, and her coworkers. It also contains several hidden games. Requires 68040/33 MHz or better (PowerPC recommended), Japanese System 7.1 or later, free memory 6 MB or larger, free HD 5 MB or larger, 680 x 480/32,000 colors or better, CD-ROM 2x or faster. [Japan] Comics-style Detective Adventure "Mezase! Mokugeki Daio"
Psd* has released "Mezase! Mokugeki Daio". It is a Japanese-comics/anime-style detective adventure where player as Asuka, a smart girl, investigates and hunts criminals. It features a comical montage creation tool to help the investigation. 68LC040/33 MHz or better, Japanese System 7.1 or later, RAM 8 MB or larger, CD-ROM 2x or faster. Available as hybrid CD-ROM at retail stores in Japan. Japanese software.
[USA] HyperCard Updated to 2.4
Apple Computer has updated HyperCard to version 2.4. Version 2.4 is one enhanced for QuickTime 3 including several bug fixes as well as following new features:

-- Opening any QuickTime compatible files by button task or drag-and-drop.
-- Stack preview in Open dialog.
-- HyperTalk commands to control various chracteristics and effects of QuickTime movies.
-- QuickTime VR movie now controllable by keyboard or HyperTalk.
-- URL support by button task or HyperTalk.
-- Enhanced script editor.
-- Improved Picture XCMD now supports QuickTime compatible image files such as GIF and JPEG.
-- Other HyperTalk enhancements.

[USA] Shadow Warrior Demo 1.0.1 Updater Posted
While Westlake Interactive and MacSoft have already updated Shadow Warrior, a 3D first person perspective shooting, to 1.0.1, also demo version of Shadow Warrior has been updated to 1.0.1 just now. As retail version 1.0.1, the demo update fixes bugs such as one at switching back monitor color depth on quitting. Demo updater size is 305 KB (more info). Also download full 1.0 demo (12.9 MB) if you doesn't have yet.

[World] QuakeWorld Beta Updated to 2.11b2, QuakeFinderQW Beta to 1.6b2
Westlake Interactive updated public beta version of QuakeWorld, an optimized head-to-head only version of Quake, to version 2.11b2. Version 2.11 fixed several bugs related to opening Mouse/Joystick Config, key assign, switching to running QuakeWorld from QuakeWorld, escaping from console mode, and playdemo command. Go to QuakeWorld Mac v2.11b2 Release Notes for more information. Also QuakeFinderQW public beta, bundled with QuakeWorld, has been updated to 1.6b2. Updater size is 665 KB (more info). Full version size is 1.2 MB (more info). QuakeWorld is freeware. QuakeFinderQW is shareware for $15. Note that since QuakeWorld is unsupported product, no technical support is provided. [Japan] Bird breeding simulation "Pinna Series"
OPeNBooK 9003* releases pinna series* in June. Pinna series is a line of bird breeding simulation softwares featuring accurate simulation of behavior and characteristic of each bird. The series consists "pinna Rurikoshi Botan Inko" (cockatoos), "pinna Beni Suzume" (red sparrows), and "pinna Sakura Buncho" (Java sparrows). Available as hybrid CD-ROM. Japanese version.
[USA] ASTROROCK 2000 Demo Available for Download
Logicware posted ASTROROCK 2000 demo. ASTROROCK 2000 is the sequel to ASTROROCK, the Rock-grooved Asteroid-style 2D shooting arcade game, featuring upgraded graphics such as translucent cockpit and several powerful new weapons. Network play is not available in the demo. Demo size is 10.9 MB (more info). Requires PowerPC, System 7.5.3 or later, RAM 16 MB or larger, free memory 7 MB or larger, free HD 5 MB or larger. Also needs DrawSprocket 1.1.2 and NetSprocket 1.1. Logicware recommends to download Sprockets R Us but it doesn't contain NetSprocket.

[USA] Stick Man Games Updated their Titles
Hawaii-based Stick Man Games, known for unique 2D arcade games, has updated following titles.

-- NetherWorld 1.2.1 (1.6 MB): Sci-Fi fantasy shooting arcade game where player fights against the demons while rescuing the captured human souls from the abysses. No information about the update is given. Freeware.
-- boogaloopers 1.2 (1.8MB): New type 2D space arcade game where player controls space ship and captures items and enemies by enclosing. No information about the update is given. Shareware $10.
-- Sentinels of Ceth 1.5 (3.6 MB): Sci-fi shooting arcade game where player must protect Gems in Temple from enemy space ships. Version 1.5 fixes several bugs as well as improves the game balance and performance, and adds new graphical effects and BGM. Shareware $15.
[USA] X-Plane 4.0 Public Beta Posted
Laminar Research posted public beta version of X-Plane 4.0 Beta-12. X-Plane is a high-featured, comprehensive flight simulator featuring variety of plane files, accurate simulation of flight dynamics and instruments, etc. Version 4.0 will feature texture mapped 3D graphics and support of OpenGL 3D acceleration cards such as ATI's. The beta updater size is 16.4 MB (more info). The beta demo size is 18.1 MB (more info). Requires PowerPC/100 MHz or faster, RAM 64 MB or larger, free HD 80 MB or larger, Display 800 x 600 or better, OpenGL 3D card, English Text-to-Speech. [USA] Nanosaur Updated to 1.0.1, Fixed Type 12 Error
Pangea Software has updated Nanosaur, a 3D shooting action game set in the dinosaur world, to version 1.0.1. Version 1.0.1 fixes a bug to avoid the Type 12 error. Updater size is 134 KB (more info). New users must download the updater along with full version 1.0 (more info).

[USA] CROP CIRCLES: Escape From Planet 3 to be Released in May
Zero Entertainment releases CROP CIRCLES: Escape From Planet 3 in May. CROP CIRCLES is a humorous sci-fi arcade game where player as an extraterrestrial must control a flying saucer evading "enemies" such as farmers, government agents, and photographers, while blazing mysterious circles onto the Earth. [Japan] Nanatsuno Himitsu, Adventure-Style Psychological Game
ClubFriends* has released Nanatsuno Himitsu 2.0*. It is a psychological analysis software based on interactive adventure. Player explores imaginary world and is encounter various events. The program analyses player's personality according to player's behavior in the world. Available directly* for ¥1,600. Player must read Japanese messages.
[World] QuakeWorld Beta 1 Posted, Bundled with QuakeFinderQW
Westlake Interactive posted public beta version of QuakeWorld 2.11b1. QuakeWorld is a head-to-head play only version of Quake, popular 3D first person shooting, which is optimized for Internet play via modem. The file contains normal/3Dfx/RAVE QuakeWorld applications as well as QuakeFinderQW 1.6b1, QuakeWorld version of QuakeFinder by Scott Kevill. File size is 1.2 MB (more info). QuakeWorld is freeware. QuakeFinderQW is shareware for $15.

[Germany] The Settlers II (Die Siedler II) Updated to 1.1
Blue Byte Software has updated The Settlers II - Veni, Vidi, Vici (German title: Die Siedler II) to version 1.1. The Settlers II is a strategic simulation of settlement, building empire, and economics set in Medieval Times where player commands each individual subject to mine, to explore, and to fight and build great empire in uncivilized land. Version 1.1 fixes several bugs and improves program behavior at low-memory situation. Updater size for English version is 989 KB (info), for German version is 696 KB (info).
[Japan] The Tower II to be Delayed until June
OPeNBooK 9003* put off the April/May release of The Tower II* until June. The Tower II is a new tower management simulation game which is the sequel to The Tower (English title "Sim Tower"). It features not only various new items but also MAPs and Plug-ins architecture that give variation and expansibility to the game. No information about English version has been given yet. But it is definite that there will be USA/Europe version of this game, OPeNBooK 9003 said.
[Japan] STARFIGHT-FINAL English Version Released
Cool Breeze STUDIO* has released English version of STARFIGHT-FINAL*. It is a classical 2D side scrolling shooting arcade game that is the latest installment of STARFIGHT series. Although its graphics is not so excellent, it features smooth parallax scrolling, variety of power-up items, unique enemy characters. File size is 1.7 MB. High quality BGM file is 3.6 MB. Requires 68LC040 or better, System 7.5.3 or later, free memory 3 MB or larger. Shareware $12.
The game uses M2GE* (Macintosh 2D Game Engine) developed by Cool Breeze STUDIO themselves. Third party developers also can use this engine (more info*).
[USA] Sim Cinema Deluxe Updated to 2.1
Shareware in the Sky has updated Sim Cinema DELUXE to version 2.1. Sim Cinema DELUXE is a film business simulation game where player as a producer makes films gathering actual casts and stuffs and promote it for success. Version 2.1 allows players to add new casts and crews in the editor and to set characteristics of the film. File size 897 KB. Requires System 7.0.1 or later, 256 colors or better, Sound Manager 3.0 or later. Shareware $10.
[Canada] Name That Game Updated to 1.1

[Japan] Japanese Traditional Fair-Stall Fishing Game "Kingyo Sukui" Updated to 1.2
Dream Garden Software* has updated "Kingyo Sukui*" to version 1.2. "Kingyo Sukui", meaning "Scoop Goldfish", is an arcade game based on a Japanese traditional fair-stall fishing game where player captures goldfish and turtles from a tank by a paper scoop. Version 1.2 adds medakas, Japanese popular killifish, as new targets to capture. Also improved is playability on faster machines. File size for 68 K is 374 KB*, for PowerPC is 415 KB*. Freeware. [Japan] LittleWing's New Pinball "Golden Logres" to be Released 6/5
LittleWing*, well-known as developer of popular pinball simulations CrystalCaliburn and Loony Labyrinth, releases their upcoming Golden Logres* on 6/5. Golden Logres is a pinball simulation to be called a sequel to CrystalCaliburn featuring 3 tables that represent a large-scaled story based on the legend of King Arthur. Also features improved simulation engine and well-playability for beginners in spite of its complex rules. Requires 68LC040/33 MHz or better (PowerPC recommended), Japanese System 7.5 or later, free memory 10 MB or larger (16 MB or larger), 680 x 480/256 colors or better (800 x 600/32,000 colors or better recommended), CD-ROM drive. [USA] aGORA Preorder Started, New Screenshots and Movie Posted
Power Media started accepting preorder of upcoming aGORA. aGORA is a 3D fantasy strategic action game. It seems to be something imitating Myth and the graphics seem to be somewhat inferior. But the game play will be more tactical thanks to circular nature of the map called Globes, complex terrain to affect strategy, and variety Magics. It will be released in June. Preorder available for $49.95.
Also Knowble Design, the developer of aGORA, posted new screenshots and movie. The new movie indicates the functionality of a Globe and Magics.

[Japan] Sierra's Japanese Distributor to be Dissolved
Sierra Pioneer*, the Japanese Distributor of Sierra On-Line products, announced that they dissolve themselves due to dissolution of joint operation between USA-based Sierra On-Line and Japan-based Pioneer. The result of this decision is as following:

- All their Japanese Sierra titles are to be discontinued.
- User support of their products is transferred to Sierra On-Line from October.
- Their Web site* is closed.
- No word is given about the new distributor after them.

Following updater and hints files still are available through September via their support line or FAX.

[USA] Cobra Gunship Updated to Version 1.3.1
Elysium Digital has updated Cobra Gunship to version 1.3.1. Cobra Gunship is a 2D side-scrolling helicopter shooting game like Choplifter featuring beautiful parallax scrolling graphics and variation of equipment and missions. Version 1.3.1 fixes several minor bugs as well as adds support for CH Products joysticks and non-QWERTY international keyboards. [Australia] QuakeFinder Updated to Version 1.5.1
Scott Kevill has updated QuakeFinder to version 1.5.1. QuakeFinder is an Internet Quake players browser featuring live filtering, QuakeWorld support, Auto-refreshes, etc. Version 1.5.1 allows to set default startup parameters for Quake and to set the number of attempts before server time out as well as adds mechanism to avoid opening too many server info windows. [Japan] "Puzzle-no Wakusei 6" Bug-Fixed for LC630
According to Sekai Bunkasha*, their puzzle games CD-ROM "Puzzle-no Wakusei 6*" has a serious bug on LC 630 that plagues system stability. The users who have LC 630 or Performer 630 should download bug-fixed version of "Bomber Girl Luna" (55 KB*) and "Magnetic Luna" (69 KB*). Go to the Bug Report page* (Japanese) for more information.
[World] Pop!, the Balloon Dog Puzzle Arcade Game
Zero Entertainment has released "Pop!". It is a puzzle and maze arcade game where player as a balloon dog moves to the goal through a bridge of balloons in the air. Various gimmicks and traps make the game much amusing and exiting. It also features good music for each stage. File size is 16 MB (more info). Recommended is PowerPC/100 MHz or faster, System 7.5 or later, RAM 16 MB or larger. Shareware $14.95.
It is the first Mac title of Zero Entertainment that is originally PC only developer, and their press release indicates their enthusiasm for the Mac market. While various news sources tend to report major games/makers leaving Mac sensationally, it is definitely true that many small game makers jump into the Mac market. I think that it is stupid to ignore the recent movement of those ambitious game makers.

PONYCANYON* has released "Train Simulator: Nagoya Railroad 1*". Train Simulator is a realistic train driving simulator where player must drive a train exactly on schedule. Ongakukan*, the developer of Train simulator series, is a software house founded by Minoru Mukaiya who is musician and also train enthusiast known as the pioneer of today's train game boom in Japan. The eleventh installment features excellent-designed trains of Nagaya Railroad such as beautifully-formed express "Panoramacars" and classic uniquely-formed "Imomushi" as well as in-development linear motor car "HSST-100S". [USA] Invasion of the Goofy Aliens Updated 1.0.1
Gooey Orbit Games has updated Invasion of the Goofy Aliens to version 1.0.1. It is a shooting gallery style arcade game where player must rid mischievous aliens by pea shooter. The feeling of the game play is somewhat like Whack-a-Mole game which requires quick and sure mouse movement. Version 1.0.1 fixes a minor bug in the menus. The program also seems to become stable in this version. File size is 2.0 MB. System 6.04 or later, RAM 5 MB or larger, grayscale or 256 color. Voluntary shareware; users who like this game may send some fee.
[Swiss] idin Updated to 1.0.3
Genjm has updated idin to version 1.0.3. idin is a single-machine head-to-head 2D shooting arcade where two players control each helicopter to defeat each other while avoiding third party's anti air attacks. Version 1.0.3 fixes several bugs. File size is 625 KB. Freeware but you may send $10 if you like.
[Sweden] ForeignFruitInvaders Released
Olle Welinder has released ForeignFruitInvaders. It is an Invaders style 2D shooting arcade game with unique peaceful graphics and humorous fruit enemies. Apples bouncing around brutally add difficulty to the game play. File size is 1.4 MB. 68040 or better, System 7.0 or later, 640 x 480/256 colors or better. Freeware.
[World] System Requirements for Diablo and StarCraft Officially Announced
Although no announcement has come from Blizzard Entertainment, the Japanese distributer SourceNext* announced the system requirements for upcoming Diablo (English version). It requires PowerPC, System 7.5 or later, RAM 32 MB or larger, free HD 40 MB or larger, 680 x 480/256 colors, CD-ROM 2x or faster.
Also Blizzard Entertainment announced the system requirements for upcoming StarCraft. It requires PowerPC, System 7.5 or later, RAM 16 MB or larger, 680 x 480/256 colors, CD-ROM 2x or faster (4x or faster recommended for movie scenes).

Ultra Digital* and Hitachi Information Academy* has released "Tokaidochu Obitadashii: Denshi Karakuri Ukiyoe Monyuki*". It is an interactive Ukiyoe (old Japanese painting) software featuring various gimmicks and hidden stories in the popular Ukiyoes. It also has adventure game-like feature where player must reveal required gimmicks to finish each stage. [USA] EV Override Page Opened
Ambrosia Software opened the EV Override page. EV Override is an upcoming shooting strategy game to be called the sequel to Escape Velocity featuring a brand-new plot, huge universe containing 300 star systems, and new ships/technologies. Also posted is the map of the EV Override universe that is indeed huge.
[USA] Cythera Preview Page Opened

Stone Entertainment opened VR Cockpit Preview page of upcoming Scrap Metal. DOH, known as the developer of various Marathon utilities, has updated M2/M00 Clut Modifier to version 1.2, Marathon Shapes Juggler to version 1.2.
M2/M00 Clut Modifier is a simple utility to extract Marathon 2/Infinity color tables and convert them to clut resource. Version 1.2 adds glowing colors support. File size is 32 KB. Freeware.
Marathon Shapes Juggler is a useful utility to extract Marathon 2/Infinity Shape collections and store them to a Suitcase file or a Shuttle (installer) file. Version 1.2 adds option to eliminate Custom collections. File size is 59 KB. Maybe freeware.
[USA] Divinity, Divine Right Updated to 5.1. Freeware Edition of Divine Right LE Also Available.
Fantasoft has updated Divinity and Divine Right each to version 5.1. Divinity is a scenario development kit for fantasy role playing games using their Realmz world and game system, whose scenarios are played with Divine Right included in the package. Version 5.1 includes the features same as Realmz 5.1. The updater for Divinity/Divine Right is 2.0 MB. Full version of Divinity is available directly for $65 ($45 for registered Realmz users). Divine Right alone is also available for $25 ($15 for registered Realmz users).

Bandai Digital Entertainment and MediaKite have released Japanese version of Titanic: Adventure Out of Time. Titanic is a popular graphic adventure game set in the ship Titanic. Ambrosia Software and Insanely Great Mac has opened Win your own ship in EV Override Contest. Though I have no idea what the contest is like, the winner of the contest gets to have their own ship in Ambrosia's Override: The greatest ship in the game will be entitled the winner's name. Override is an upcoming shooting strategy game to be called the sequel to Escape Velocity. It features a brand-new seriously-developed plot as well as various enhancements such as the huge universe containing 300 star systems and new ships/technologies. No release date has been given yet.

One Stop releases "Z" in the first week of May in UK. "Z" (Developer: Bitmap Brothers) is an action-style sci-fi realtime combat simulation game where player commands robot soldiers with individual personalities and conquers to get more territory and resources. [USA] Quake 1.09 Updating Problem Fixed with New Patches
Westlake Interactive and MacSoft fixed a problem in Quake 1.09 updaters and posted the new updaters. The older updaters posted on 04/08/98 by MacSoft causes some troubles at updating 3Dfx version or updating non-clean installed application. The new updaters posted on 04/09/98 fixed this problem, which are downloadable from Westlake interactive Download page or MacSoft Technical Support page.
They also reported another problem in textures and colors and posted the workaround on Westlake interactive Download page and MacSoft Technical Support page.
[World] Diablo GM Finished, to be Released mid-April in USA, 4/28 in Japan
According to Blizzard Entertainment, much anticipated fantasy role playing strategy game Diablo goes to GM (finished master) and is to be released in 7 to 10 days. Although no system requirements are given yet, it may requires PowerPC. Will be available at retail stores in USA.
In Japan, SOURCENEXT* distributes Diablo bundled with Japanese manual on 4/28.

[USA] Quake Updated to 1.09, Now Current with GL Quake .97
Westlake Interactive and MacSoft has updated 3D first person shooting Quake to version 1.09. This update makes Mac Quake get current with DOS GL Quake .97. It includes much faster sky textures, alternate skins support, 8 bit textures support in 3Dfx and RAVE, fixed troubles at screen mode switching, other various new features, and various bug fixes. [USA] Gazillionaire for Mac in Development
Lavamind announced that Macintosh version of their Gazillionaire is in development. Gazillionaire is a sci-fi business simulation game where player, as a space wheeler/dealer, manages the firm and makes profit. It features various events, exiting game play by multiplayer, and unique exotic graphics. They said the Mac version should be completed soon, but no release date is given at this point.

Pangea Software has released Nanosaur. It is a 3D shooting action game set in the dinosaur world where player, as a super T-Rex with a jet pack and several modern weapons, fights against enemy dinosaurs. File size is 12.4 MB. The system requirements are somewhat strict, that are PowerPC (except 601. G3 recommended), RAM 24 MB or larger, QuickDraw 3D 1.5 or later, DrawSprockets 1.1.2 or later, QuickTime 2.5 or later, 3D RAVE card with 4 MB VRAM (not compatible with 3Dfx card. KAE Labs has released VocalWriter. It is a very unique MIDI sequencer software with vocal synthesizer that allows computer to sing in various voices including male and female voices as well as to talk by instruments just like as vocoder or talking modulator. Although the vocals are not so excellent as a professional singer, it supports various expression such as pitch bend, vibrato, breath, and brightness. Kiyoshi Takeuchi* has released Gammen Suijaku*. It is a unique cards game like Concentration (Memory) using cards with face pictures. The difficulty of the game is that player must remember traits of each face on the cards and must finish the entire cards by turning each card less than three times, otherwise the score is deducted. Pangea Software has opened their new Nanosaur site. [France] "La Boite a Rire" to be Released in France. Great Laughing Competition Held
Galilea Multimedia releases La Boite a Rire on 5/1 in France. La Boite a Rire is a unique interactive picture book with the theme of "laugh". It has various gimmicks such as fireworks, type writer, and slot machine all of which laugh anywhere. Although the manual is in French, the software itself is language independent so that people all over the world can enjoy it. Japan-based DIGITALOGUE* has already released La Boite a Rire* in Japan (international order available through mailorder@digitalogue.co.jp for ¥2,800).
The (virtual) Baguette, a French online multimedia magazine, is running Great Laughing Competition in celebration of their 3 years anniversary and the realease of La Boite a Rire. You can send your funniest laugh in less than 15 seconds AIFF file. The 30 funniest laughters will be awarded La Boite a Rire CD-ROM before the release. [USA] Unreal Ad Shows Up
According to Westlake Interactive News, the first Unreal ad finally shows up in the latest May issue of MacWorld US. The image data of the ad is available to download. Unreal, developed by Epic MegaGames, is a high-quality first person perspective shooting game featuring photo realistic graphics. The Mac port and distribution are to be done by the well-known Westlake Interactive - MacSoft allied. Westlake Interactive also said their work continues to go well, and they are working on adding more features to 3Dfx/Rave support and more optimization for software rendering.

[USA] Star Control 3 Coming from MacSoft
MacSoft has opened the Star Control 3 page. If it is not April Fool (maybe not), the game will be released soon from MacSoft. Star Control 3 (original publisher: Accolade) is a networkable space conquest adventure with various aspects such as 3D space combat, colony management, diplomacy, and exploration. Player must unlock the secrets of a lost civilization with help of allied alien races to save the universe from annihilation. The page contains some screen shots as well as box shot by John Berkey, a famous sci-fi illustrator. The game requires PowerPC, System 7.5.3 or later, RAM 12 MB or larger. No release date is given yet.
Followup: The page is, of course, not of April Fool. This is definitely true.
[Japan] Jack Nicklaus Golf 4 Course Design Contest Winners Announced
Twilight Express*, the Japanese distributor of Jack Nicklaus Golf 4*, announced winners of Jack Nicklaus Course Design Contest*. No detailed description about the winners and their works are given. But you can see screen shots and download two course files from the Course Design Contest page*. The files are for Japanese version of Jack Nicklaus Golf 4, and I have no idea whether they are compatible with English version.

Infinisys shipped new version 2.0 of Screen Studio. It is an easy but powerful authoring tool for After Dark modules that features;

-- Library including clip arts, sound clips, and cool sample modules.
