[USA] Power Media Site Opened. Scrap Metal to be Published from There
Power Media opened their new site. They are, originally the publisher of Newton softwares, dealing in excellent Mac only games as following:

-- Gridz (Green Dragon Creations): A cyber strategy game where player commands micro robots named "Toolbots" in order to conquer the cyber space called "Net Space". Networkable for up to 8 players.
-- Battle-Girl (Ultra/United Games): A high performance, highly tactical vector graphic shooting arcade game. Also adopted to PlayPak arcade system.
-- aGORA (Knowble Design): A 3D fantasy strategic action game like Myth but features circular nature of the map called Globes, complex terrain to affect strategy, and various Magic. To be released on 6/1.

Power Media also signed with Stone Entertainment to publish upcoming Scrap Metal whose project had been in hard situation. Scrap Metal is 3D space flight shooting simulator featuring beautiful graphics using Gouraud shading and translucent process, large-scaled story with 10 objectives, and variation of equipment and enemies. Requires PowerPC (PowerPC 601/100 MHz or better recommended), free memory 12 MB or larger, 640 x 480/256 colors or better.
Additional help from Power Media may drive the project toward the finish. Expected release date is now set on 6/1 rather than "within the century" previously announced by Stone Entertainment.

While some major publishers recently abandoned Mac market, a number of remarkable Mac Only publishers are coming to the market. Mac gamers should pay attention to not only porting of major PC games but also such "Mac specialists" since many of their games are innovative and well "Mac-like".
[Japan] Realistic Floriculture Simulation of Roses
Sony Music Entertainment has released Rose on your desktop. It is a realistic floriculture and hybridization simulation of roses featuring real time 3D graphics using QuickDraw 3D, hybridizable 7 species, accurate simulation based on real weather data. The generated graphics can be used for screen saver. Requires PowerPC, System 7.5.1 or later (Mac OS 8 recommended), RAM 32 MB or larger, free HD 20 MB or larger, 256 colors or better (full color recommended). Both English and Japanese versions are included.
[Japan] Adventure Game Based on "Kochi-Kame", Japanese Most Popular Comic Series
B-Factory and Bandai Visual has released "Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Koen-mae Hashutsujo: Maboroshino Otakarao Oe! No Maki". It is an interactive adventure game based on Japanese most popular and long-run comic series "Kochi-Kame" where player as a humorous police man "Ryo-san" searches downtown in Tokyo for rare goods hidden in various location in the streets. Player also can experience Japanese classic tiny games. Requires 68040 or better (PowerPC recommended), Japanese System 7.5 or later, 640 x 480/256 colors or better. CD-ROM 8x or faster recommended. Player must read Japanese manual and messages.
[Japan] "Nobunaga-no Yabo Shoseiroku Power Up Kit" Released
Koei* has released "Nobunaga-no Yabo Shoseiroku Power Up Kit". "Nobunaga-no Yabo Shoseiroku" is an installment of Nobunaga-no Yabo series, known as "Nobunaga's Ambition" in USA, which is a strategy simulation of Japanese Civil War where player as Nobunaga Oda manages his territory to conquer the whole Japan. The Power Up Kit features Chronological Table Generator and Character & Fortress Editor as well as new scenarios and events. Also to be available is Nobunaga-no Yabo Shoseiroku and the Power Up Kit bundle. Requires 68040 or better, Japanese Mac OS, 800 x 600 or better, Apple SCSI CD-ROM (not compatible with CD-ROM from other manufacturer or IDE CD-ROM of PowerBooks). Player must read Japanese manual and messages.
[USA] Quake 1.08.5 Expected Early Next Week
Westlake Interactive said that the 1.08.5 patch for Quake is nearly complete. The patch may be a large update with 30 new fixes and additions. They said they hope to release it early next week. (Source: Westlake Interactive News)

[Japan] The Tower II Product Info Page Opened
OPeNBooK 9003* opened a product info page of upcoming The Tower II*. The Tower II is a new tower management simulation game which is the sequel to The Tower (English title "Sim Tower"). It features not only various new items but also MAPs and Plug-ins architecture that give variation and expansibility to the game. The new page* contains brief description (sorry Japanese only) of the game as well as description of each MAP* and new items*. Also non-Japanese users may enjoy a screen shot of Kegon-no Taki Waterfall MAP* which varies seasonally. Release date is currently set around late April or early May in Japan. Also US and Europe localized versions are planned.

[Japan] Release Date of LittleWing's New Pinball Slipped to March
LittleWing*, which is well-known as developer of popular pinball simulations CrystalCaliburn and Loony Labyrinth, puts the February release of Golden Logres* off until sometime in March. Golden Logres is a pinball simulation to be called a sequel to CrystalCaliburn featuring various tables that represent a story based on the legend of King Arthur. Also features well-playability for beginners in spite of its complex rules. Requires 68LC040/33 MHz, Japanese Mac OS. Player must read manual and use menu commands in Japanese. But the game itself may be well-playable for non-Japanese users because its table design and voice effects themselves are in English.
LittleWing also prolonged the High Score Contest of their previous Angel Egg* to 3/31. Angel Egg is also their new pinball game featuring up to 6 multiball and complex rules. (Source: LittleWing What's new page*)
[Japan] Freddi Fish Japanese Version Double Pack To Be Released 3/13
Media Vision* releases Freddi Fish Double Pack on 3/13. Freddi Fish Double Pack is the bundle of Freddi Fish series, that is popular among American/Japanese children, including Japanese version of Freddi Fish And The Case of The Missing Kelp Seeds and Freddi Fish 2: The Case Of The Haunted Schoolhouse. Available at Japanese retail shops for ¥5,980 or less.
Media Vision also re-releases low-priced Hybrid version of Japanese Freddi Fish 2 on 3/13 for ¥3,980 or less. Hybrid CD-ROMs may benefit Japanese Mac users in local provinces where it is generally difficult to get Macintosh softwares. (Source: Media Vision News)
[Japan] KidPix 98 Product Info Page Opened
INTERPROG* opened product info page of KidPix 98*, that is to be released late in March. KidPix 98 is a drawing tool for kids that is an enhanced version of KidPix, which is popular among Japanese households and schools. It is for children and adult computer beginners featuring easy operation as well as even professional features. Sample images using newly-featured Virtual Painter Filters and a list of supported digital cameras/scanners are in the new page.
[USA] MacSoft Opened Unreal Product Info Page Along with Screen Shots
MacSoft opened Unreal product info page. Unreal, developed by Epic MegaGames, is a high-quality first person perspective shooting game featuring photo realistic graphics originally for Windows. The Mac port and distribution are to be done by the Westlake Interactive - MacSoft allied known as porter/publisher of Shadow Warrior and Quake for Macintosh. The page includes brief descriptions about the game as well as some excellent screen shots. No release date is given yet (maybe this Spring).
[USA] The Fantastic War Released
Peace, Love and World Groovyness Software has released The Fantastic War. The Fantastic War is a highly detailed fantasy conquest strategy game featuring wide maps and various units. Although the game is very complex, an online tutorial and command reference may help players to learn the game. File size 2.6 MB. Shareware $25. [USA] Fantasoft Released Public Beta Updater of Divinity 1.0.5
Fantasoft has released a public beta version of Divinity updater 1.0.5b. Divinity is a scenario development kit for fantasy role playing games using their Realmz world whose scenarios are played with Divine Right included in the package. Version 1.0.5 will add various enhanced features below:

-- A Land Tile Editor to modify or create land pattern.
-- "Use LOS" option to apply the "Line of Sight" rules to the entire land
-- Bunch of new codes to add new functions
-- Other improvements

Go to the Divinity Updates page for more information on the update. The beta updater size 1.6 MB. Required 68020, System 7.1 or later, free memory 4 MB or larger, free HD space 50 MB or larger, 13" 256 colors or better. Full CD version is available directly from Fantasoft for $45.

[Japan] Addendum: Myth 1.2 Updater Only for English Version, Japanese Version 1.1 Beta Already Posted
According to Mach One*, the Myth 1.2 updater posted recently by Bungie is not usable for the Japanese version*. Lavix*, the Japanese distributer, is working on 1.1 updater and a public beta version of the updater* is already posted (676 KB*).
Mach One*, that offered this information, is yet another greatest Mac game site in Japan featuring world-wide news as well as various game reviews, although only Japanese pages available.
[USA] TacOps Classic Edition Released
Since Major Holdridge has changed the publisher of their TacOps from Arsenal Publishing, the new publisher Avalon Hill has released TacOps Classic Edition. TacOps is well-known non-hexed tactical modern army simulation which is adopted as a training material by the armies of Canada and New Zealand. Classic Edition is version 2.0 of the game featuring 76 scenarios, up from 64 in previous version, and alternative older equipment of late 70s/early 80s. Available now directly for $19.95.
Avalon Hill also releases new TacOps '98 in this first quarter that features CPX mode where the third person referees two players, as well as a more realistic map that offers unlimited terrain elevations and real world military contour maps.
[Australia] SSG Posted New Scenarios
SSG posted new scenarios for their war games:

-- Arras: New scenario of Battlefront series. Germany vs. Anglo-French in Northern France, 1940. 31 KB.
-- Waterloo (Colour Version): Scenario for Decisive Battles of the American Civil War. Set in the Waterloo Campaign. 19 KB.
-- Waterloo (B&W Version): Black & White version of the Waterloo scenario. 14 KB.
-- Gibraltar: Scenario for Carriers at War set in the landing operation at Gibraltar, 1940. The action of French fleet under control is the key. Requires to update Carriers at War application to version 1.2.1 (314 KB). Consists of the scenario file (65 KB) and the AI file (5 KB).

Application of Battlefront, Decisive Battles, and Carriers at War are included in Total War. Go to this page for more instruction. Note that the Battlefront and Decisive Battles application consume much memory in 32,000 colors and you had better set the screen mode to 256 colors or enlarge application memory size.

[USA] Shareware Review Archive "Games HQ" Opened
Gaz Software has opened a Macintosh shareware game review archive called Games HQ. Gaz Software, themselves are a shareware developer such as Return of the Spaced Invaders, asserts the importance of such a thing because many game sites are oriented toward big commercial games. The site contains detailed reviews of various shareware games along with screen shots and download links.
[USA] QuickTime 3.0f7 Final Candidate Posted
Apple Computer posted Developer Preview Release 3.0f7 (final candidate) of upcoming QuickTime 3.0. QuickTime 3.0 features new music instruments module supporting General MIDI and GS Format as well as various new codecs and new file formats. Preview file size 8.8 MB. [USA] Myth 1.2 Updater Final
Bungie Software Products has released final Myth 1.2 updater. This updater fixes a bug called the "Fetch chain lightning bug". Updater size 987 KB. All players must synchronize the version at multiplayer game.
[USA] Close Combat 2.0b Patch Posted. Allied to Suffer More!
Microsoft posted a new 2.0b patch for the tactical combat simulator Close Combat 2: A Bridge Too Far. In 2.0b, the soldier monitor problem is fixed as well as German infantry now uses Panzerfäuste more effectively, no longer uses them against infantry. It makes German infantry yet more threatening to Allied armors. Updater size 1.5 MB.
[Japan] AI Tsume Shogi 2, a tsume-shogi game with professional-level algorithm
ASCII SOMETHING GOOD* releases the second installment of AI Tsume Shogi series titled "AI Tsume Shogi: Sono-2, Shiroganeno Maki*" on 3/20. Tsume shogi is a serious puzzle game based on Japanese chess-like shogi game where player must find out the best way to reach the "tsume" (called "checkmate" in the chess) from various initial dispositions. AI Tsume Shogi series is the most powerful tsume shogi game with professional level computer algorithm where player has always to give the best way for each disposition. The latest installment features new 200 dispositions written by a tsume shogi expert. Requires PowerPC, Japanese System 7.5.3 or later, RAM 16 MB or larger (32 MB recommended), free HD 10 MB or larger. To be available in retail shops in Japan. Mission Soleil is an upcoming real time 3D first person perspective adventure game featuring 3D-ized reproduction of Vincent van Gogh's works. It is to be available by this Summer in French, Japanese, and English versions.
[Belgium] Bubblomania Updated to Version 1.5.2, Now Playable on Duo 2300c
Jochen De Schepper has updated Bubblomania to version 1.5.2. Bubblomania is a simple arcade game where player controls the needle to crash bubbles coming to the surface. Version 1.5.2 fixes some dialog as well as resolves the problem at screen depth switching on PowerBook Duo 2300c. File size for small version 691 KB, full version including all background arts 1.7 MB, updater from 1.5.1 is 54 KB. Requires PowerPC. shareware $10. Also Topscore Contest is held through 3/31. The first prize of the contest is a lifetime of free registration codes for all the shareware he will ever make.
[USA] Public Beta of STRiKECat Posted
STRiKE Software posted public beta version of STRiKECat. STRiKECat is the first add-on scenario for F/A-18 Korea featuring F-14D Bombcat. Beta version size 319 KB. Only for registered STRiKE Software users (needs password to extract the archive). 3Dfx card users who can send them reports are strongly wanted since they have no 3Dfx card for testing.

[USA] Fantasoft Released Three New Games
Fantasoft has released three humorously titled arcade games:
-- Rain Net: A puzzle arcade game with feeling like Packman. The purpose of the game is to move a girl frog Valentine to eat up all strawberries in a maze with help of her friend Cornelius. Because they can't turn or stop until get obstacled by wall or by each other, good strategy is required to finish the stage. File size 1.9 MB. Shareware $20.
-- Bugs Bannis: A 2D arcade game where a rabbit digs around and takes all carrots to find the exit. Player must take care of falling objects to avoid getting hit by them. File size 666 KB. Shareware $20.
-- King of Parking: A parking operation puzzle game where player must get a car out of a crowded parking lot. File size 1,015 KB. Shareware $10.

[Japan] PlayStation Image Viewer TimOpen 1.2.1
STUDIO SHIN* has released TimOpen 1.2.1, a PlayStation Image Viewer. TimOpen allows to view TIM files, the standard image format for PlayStation game console, and convert them to PICT files. Currently 4, 8, and 16 bit TIM format are supported. File size 71 KB*. Requires 68040 or better, Japanese System 7.1 or later, free memory 2 MB or larger, 256 colors (32,000 colors recommended). Freeware.
I confirmed that it works well under English Mac OS except miscoded text in menus and other dialogs. Operation of this software itself is fairly simple so that non-Japanese users can use it.
Followup: As of 3/2, TimOpen has updated to version 1.2.3 that allows to save in TIM format. (File size: 74 KB).
[USA] Fatal Encounter Now Color, Native, and Standalone
Lightning Bolt Software has released Fatal Encounter Episode III. Fatal Encounter is a series of story-based 2D space shooting arcade game featuring various spaceship and cool music. While Episode I and II of the series are HyperCard stack, the latest Episode III is now native standalone program with color graphics where operation response and graphic quality are improved. Demo size 1.9 MB. Requires PowerPC, free memory 6 MB or larger, free HD 6 MB or larger. Available directly for $10.

[Japan] Feral to Localize After Dark Authoring Tool from Japan
After Racing Days R localization was finished, Feral Entertainment is now localizing Screen Studio, an After Dark utility from Japanese developer Infinisys. Screen Studio is easy but powerfol authoring tool for After Dark modules that features;
Module generator that incorporates graphics, up to 32 sprites, background arts, motions, sounds, and texts into a module.
Application generator that generates stand alone screen saver application.
Library including clip arts, sound clips, and cool sample modules.
The localized version is expected to be released in April.

iMagic Online has released the final version of Warbirds 2.0r1. Warbirds is WWII dogfight simulator networkable via the arena in which a large number of players are gathering or direct Internet connection in Head-To-Head mode. Also features worldwide WWII aircrafts with their respective accurate cockpit arts, which can be collectors' items for combat aircraft fans. Version 2.0 features improved user interface and Input Sprocket support. Requires PowerPC. Files for PowerPC 601, 603/G3, 604 are offered, whose size is 8.2 MB each. Avalon Hill opened Opponents Wanted Pages for ones who are searching an opponent player. These consist Face to Face Opponents Wanted for board game players, Play by Mail Opponents Wanted for contacting via snail mail, and Play by E-Mail Opponents Wanted for contacting via E-mail. Among them, the latest one is dedicated for computer game players and there already are some computer players listed.
[World] Bub & Bob Updated to Version 1.2.2 Fixed 68 K Problem
Sebastian Wegner has updated Bub & Bob to version 1.2.2. Bub & Bob is 2D arcade game much resembles Bubble Bobble. Version 1.2.2 fixed startup problem on 68K Macs. Full version size 2.4 MB. Requires 68040 or better, free memory 4.2 MB or larger. Shareware $20.

[USA] F/A-18 Korea Now Available
According to Cyberian Outpost and Version Tracker, long anticipated Mac version of F/A-18 Korea seems to have been released. F/A-18 Korea is latest installment of the mission oriented multipurpose fighter simulator series from Graphic Simulations which supports Power3D card for texture mapping.
[World] Dragon Grabber 2 Expected to be Released July
Dragon Software, that developed various arcade games set in fantasy world, announced the sequel to Dragon Grabber called Dragon Grabber 2: Royal Trouble!. Previously released Dragon Grabber is a 2D arcade game where player must rids the evil dragons by throwing nets. Upcoming Dragon Grabber 2 will be a big improvement featuring more bonuses, more baddies, more levels and backgrounds. Release date currently set to July.
[Japan] Model Train Simulator "Dream Express" to be Released on 2/18
Dream Garden Software* releases Dream Express* on 2/18. Dream Express is a simple 3D model train simulator where user can view running train from various perspectives. Dream Express also will be exhibited at Theme Zone in Expo Tokyo held from 2/18. Users can register it at their booth. Currently available is a beta version (280 KB). Requires PowerPC, Japanese System 7.5 or later, QuickDraw 3D. Shareware ¥1,000. Users must read Japanese manual and operate Japanese menu commands, but the software itself is so simple that the operation is not difficult for non-Japanese users.
Followup: As of 2/18, the latest version of Dream Express is 1.0.1.
[UK] ALERT! Currently Distributed Carmageddon 3Dfx Patch is Pirated Beta
According to Techworks, currently distributed Carmageddon 3Dfx Patch is based on a pirated copy of internal beta version shown at MacWorld SF and sites who have that one should remove it as soon as possible. They also asked anyone who has information leading to the source of this pirated patch to send this to craigf@techworks.com. Final version of the patch is expected to be released in a few weeks. [World] Blades of Exile Scenario Editor Updated to Version 1.03
SpiderWeb Software has updated Blades of Exile Scenario Editor to version 1.03. Blades of Exile is a sequel to Exile fantasy role playing series featuring 3 challenging scenarios, Scenario Editor to create player's own scenarios, and Character Editor to edit the party. In version 1.03, Custom graphics is now displayed in the Scenario Editor instead of starting up game program to look custom graphics. File size of the latest version is 726 KB.
[Canada] Stained Glass Software to Port Descent Mission Builder II
Stained Glass Software started a project to port Descent Mission Builder II (DMB II) to Macintosh. DMB II is a level/mission etitor for PC Descent 1/2 developed by Brainware. Staind Glass Software plans to release DMB II as shareware by mid 1998. Plans for succesive releases include optimizations and additional features not found in the PC version of DMB II, including a Briefing Editor. Their other plans are a utility to convert PC Descent DEM files, their original 3D action game Defence Force Earth!, etc. (Source: Tikkabik, Brainware Press Release)
[Japan] Mac OS 8.1 Japanese Version Updater Available in Mac Fan Internet CD-ROM
Apple Computer, Japan* announced that Japanese version of Mac OS 8.1* updeter is to be available on 2/18. However, the updater is already available in the CD-ROM bundled with Japanese Macintosh magazine Mac Fan Internet*. Mac OS 8.1 features various performance improvements and new file format HFS+, as well as Japanese input method Kotoeri updated to 2.1. The updater is also to be available in CD-ROMs of other Macintosh magazines or Apple FTP Server (from 2/18). Current Japanese Mac OS users can obtain upgrade kit from Apple Japan or purchase the full package edition at a retail store.
[USA] Pattern recognition card game "Medley 2.0"
Adam Saffer has posted his Medley 2.0 in Info-Mac. Medley 2.0 is a card game using a special 81 card deck with each card having various symbols that requires rapid pattern recognition. Player must find out a group of 3 cards called "Medley" in a special condition. Although the rule is complex, computer helps you to find Medley by indicating 2 cards eligible for Medley. File size 163 KB. Requires System 7.0 or later. Maybe freeware.

The name FuMI, pronounced as "foomy", is abbreviation of Future Media International which represents the concept of "publishing highly featured multimedia CD-ROM titles based on quality and reliable publications in the world". 4 titles available now under the brand:

[Japan] Japanese Add-on Course for Jack Nicklaus Golf 4
Twilight Express, Japanese localizer of Jack Nicklaus Golf 4*, has released Japanese add-on courses:
Ishioka Golf Club: Flat-layed strategic course near Tokyo
Fuji Chuo Golf Club: Beautiful landscaped course in the foothill of Mount Fuji
Each available as Hybrid CD-ROM at retail stores in Japan. Japanese version of Jack Nicklaus Golf 4 required.
[Japan] Yet Another Train Simulator "Shuppatsu Shinko"
Train simulator games are very popular in Japan and available from various publishers. Shochiku Home Video also publishes another train simulator series "Shuppatsu Shinko" and its first installment titled "Shuppatsu Shinko: JR Hokkaido Hakodate Honsen*" has been released. It features accurate simulation of both instruments and sound as well as variety of game plays such as driving, conducting and touring. [World] Power Media to be aGORA's Publisher
According to Knowble Design, they have signed the contracts with Power Media to publish their upcoming aGORA. aGORA is a 3D fantasy strategic action game like Myth but features circular nature of the map called Globes, complex terrain to affect strategy, and Magic. The release date is tentatively set for June. Power Media also is the publisher of Gridz from Green Dragon Creations.
[Japan] Evangelion Interactive "Kotetsuno Girl Friend" Released
GAINAX has released anticipated interactive anime game "Shinseiki Evangelion: Kotetsuno Girl Friend*" (English title is "Neon Genesis Evangelion: Iron Maiden"). Although system requirement is as announced before, recommended is PowerPC 603e/180 MHz or faster, PowerPC 604/150 MHz or faster, RAM 64 MB or larger, CD-ROM 8x or faster, free HD 507 MB or larger, 32,000 colors or better. Available at retail stores or directly from GAINAX* for ¥14,800. Since all speeches are in Japanese, it is difficult to play the game without Japanese ability.

[Japan] PONY CANYON Started Online Distribution of Accessory Softwares
PONYCANYON* started online distribution* of their accessory softwares. It uses BitCash* prepaid card where customer purchases a BitCash card at a book shop or a CD shop in advance and enters its serial code at downloading. BitCash system is already used by various contents distributors in Japan such as Karaoke and digital publications as some Japanese Internet users dislike to enter their credit card number for security reason and many young people even have no credit card. [USA] SoftWindows 95 and RealPC Also Updated to Support Power3D
Connectix has already announced Virtual PC 2.0 that supports Techworks' Power3D. Insignia Solutions also updates SoftWindows 95 and RealPC to support Power3D. Chris De Salvo of Apple has opened Unofficial Sprockets Support site. Game Sprockets are bunch of shared libraries and tools for game softwares. Although Apple last year decided to put them in maintenance mode, Chris has continued to develop the useful suit. [USA] ISO Adopts QuickTime for MPEG-4
Apple Computer, IBM, Netscape, Oracle, Silicon Graphics, Sun Microsystems have announced that the International Standards Organization (ISO) has adopted their proposal to use Apple's QuickTime File Format for MPEG-4. MPEG-4 is an emerging digital media standard that is successor of MPEG-2. By the adoption of the QuickTime file format as the starting point for an MPEG-4 standard, digital media contents can be authored in a common file format which also supports real-time video and audio streaming. [USA] Upcoming Virtual PC 2.0 Supports Power3D to Boost 3Dfx Games
Connectix releases Virtual PC 2.0 in February. Virtual PC known as PC emulator dedicated to play various DOS/Windows games, version 2.0 supports Power3D cards that allow 3Dfx-Voodoo Graphics DOS/Windows games to run much faster than previous version.

[Japan] LittleWing Announced Preliminary System Requirement for Upcoming Golden Logres Pinball
LittleWing*, known as developer of CrystalCaliburn and Loony Labyrinth, announced that the release date of upcoming pinball simulation Golden Logres* is late-February and that its preliminary system requirement is 68LC040/33 MHz or better. Golden Logres is a pinball simulation to be called a sequel to CrystalCaliburn featuring various tables that represent a story based on the legend of King Arthur. Japanese Mac OS may be required. Player must read manual and use menu commands in Japanese. But the game may be well-playable for non-Japanese users because its table design and voice effects are in English.

[Australia] Battlefront Series New Scenario "Kursk"
SSG, known as developer of Battlefront series such as Rommel and Panzer Battles, has released new scenarios for Battlefront named Kursk and Kursk (Early Attack). Battlefront is a series of classic hex-board-style strategic war simulation system with scenarios on Afrika Korps, Mexico Independence, Korea War, etc., as well as WarPlan scenario editor. The new scenarios are based on a Germany vs. USSR battle in WWII. Downloadable from SSG's Scenario Library (66 KB each). Freeware. A Battlefront application included in Total War is needed.
Note that the new scenarios consume much memory in 32,000 colors and you had better set the screen mode to 256 colors or enlarge application memory size to 5 MB.
